You pay in full. Your cards may still report a high balance.
Card issuers usually report your balance to the credit bureaus when your statement closes, weeks before the payment due date. So paying in full on time can still show high utilization. We text you exactly how much to pay on each card, and by when, so it reports a low balance.
What do your cards report?
Private by design: this calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type here is sent anywhere, not to us and not to anyone else, and nothing is saved. No card numbers needed. We use PostHog analytics to count page visits and whether the calculator was used (only how many cards, never balances, limits or card details).
Close date vs. due date: the gap autopay misses
- All monthYou spend on the card as usual.
- Statement close dateThe issuer takes a snapshot of your balance. That balance is what most issuers report to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
- At least 21 days laterPayment due date. Federal law gives you at least 21 days between the statement and the due date.
- Due dateAutopay pays the statement balance in full, so no interest. But the high balance was already reported.
The fix is timing, not extra money. Pay part of the same bill a few days before the close date, and the statement (and the report) shows the lower balance. Whatever is left is due on the due date as usual, and your autopay still pays it. Keep autopay on: it's your safety net, and we work on top of it. Every card has its own close date, so doing this by hand means tracking several dates every month. That tracking is what we do for you.
Issuers differ: a few report at other times of the month, and payments can take 1–3 business days to post, which is why we suggest paying at least 4 days before close.
How the pilot works
- Tell us your cards. We track each card's balance and its statement close date.
- Get one text per card, per month. For example: "Pay $412 on your Freedom card by Nov 16. It closes Nov 20."
- You pay from your own bank, in your card's app, as you normally would. We never move your money in the pilot.
Later, an optional Autopilot plan will make these payments for you. Pilot members get it first.
